Annual Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic Returns to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne on Sept. 17|
CLEBURNE, Texas — As the temperatures start to cool ever so slightly and children start selecting Halloween costumes, it also becomes time for everyone’s favorite fall activity — the annual flu shot.
Every year, up to 20 percent of U.S. residents get sick from the flu, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 200,000 people a year are hospitalized for the flu, including 20,000 children, and about 36,000 people die each year, the CDC said.
To help people protect against the flu, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne will host its fourth annual drive-thru flu shot clinic on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The clinic is designed so individuals don’t even have to leave their vehicles to get the flu shot. The shot costs $20 per person for adults over the age of 18. Only cash will be accepted. The clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the hospital’s back parking lot.
Flu vaccines for children are available through local pediatricians' offices.
“This is an easy way to get vaccinated while out running errands on a Saturday morning,” said Ronda Dillard, R.N., employee and occupational health nurse at Texas Health Cleburne. “Getting the flu shot is crucial to staying well along with practicing good hand hygiene techniques.”
