Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital Appoints New Director of Surgical Services and Critical Care|
ARLINGTON, Texas — Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital administrators appointed Damon Solko, R.N., B.S.N., as the new director of surgical services and critical care. Solko brings 11 years of nursing experience to the position, with three years of experience in nursing leadership.
Solko served as the hospital’s operating room supervisor since 2008. Before that, he was a staff nurse in the operating room from 2007 to 2008 and on the intensive care unit from 2005 until 2007. Prior to joining the Texas Health Arlington Memorial staff, he worked in various roles at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas, performing administrative duties in the emergency, billing, and quality assurance/outcomes management departments. He eventually pursued a passion in nursing on the orthopedic/neurological unit, medical/surgical unit, and in the operating room.
Solko earned a licensed vocational nursing degree in 2000 and his associate’s nursing degree from Odessa College in 2001, followed by a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Texas Tech School of Nursing in 2007. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in health care administration from Walden University, with an expected graduation date of April 2012.
His longtime interest in coaching youth sports led to his current role as co-director of Integrity Volleyball Club in Bedford.
