Respiratory Program at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano Earns National Recognition|
PLANO, Texas — Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano has earned recognition from a leading national organization for quality respiratory care and patient safety.
Texas Health Plano received the Quality Respiratory Recognition award from the American Association for Respiratory Care. The program recognizes respiratory programs that meet the high standards set by the association for treating asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, and other lung conditions.
“This is a great honor for our staff, but it’s really about our patients and people in the local community,” said Pablo Bracho, M.P.A., RRT-NPS, CPFT, R.C.P., director of respiratory therapy and neurodiagnostics at Texas Health Plano. “This recognition lets patients know they can come here and receive quality care.”
The association’s quality recognition program was started in 2003 to help consumers identify hospitals that provide quality respiratory care. Hospitals earning the designation agree to adhere to a strict set of criteria governing their respiratory care services, according to the association. About 15 percent of hospitals in the United States have received this award.
In addition to chronic lung conditions seen in adult patients, respiratory therapists also care for premature infants and are key members of rapid response teams that handle medical emergencies at the hospital.
“Respiratory care is an area that can touch any patient in the hospital and provides a valuable service to our community whether it’s helping young children with asthma or older adults with difficulty breathing,” said Dr. Jeffrey Canose, FACHE, president of Texas Health Plano. “Meeting these requirements shows a level of care consistent with national standards and guidelines and reflects a commitment to quality care.”
