Master Chef at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas Brings Hotel-Style Services to Patients|
DALLAS — On any given day, Master Chef Domenico Berardicurti can be found dining at Café Presby, located in the main hospital at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.
Italian-trained Berardicurti, the hospital’s new manager of culinary operations and conference services, likes to taste, see and hear dining experiences from a customer’s perspective.
“I am passionate about what I do,” said Berardicurti, who is known around the hospital simply as “chef." “I want to see people eat healthy and eat happy.”
With more than 20 years of culinary expertise, Berardicutri has big plans to further the hospital’s commitment to service excellence by offering hotel-style room service for patients — starting in 2013.
“Patients will soon be able to order food and have meals delivered to their rooms,” said Berardicurti. “We are excited to be working with a team of nutritionists to develop new dishes for our menus, so there will be more meal selections to choose from.”
Berarducurti, a recipient of the 2010 Chef of the Year Award/Permian Basin Chapter from the Texas Chef Association, said the new menus will offer healthy proportions of protein and fish, fresh produce and gluten-free dishes.
“We will also accommodate patients who have been placed on special diets by their physician,” said Berardicurti.
In-room services will be available only to inpatients. Visitors and guests are welcome to dine at any one of the three cafeterias on the hospital grounds. Dining services include continental breakfast, lunch, grab and go and dinner.
“I find it rewarding when customers are happy,” Berardicurti said. “We want our patients to get well and enjoy their stay while they’re here.”
