DALLAS — Texas Health Resources University, located on the campus of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, is hosting a free symposium for people who are caring for sick or disabled loved ones. The “Advanced Care Planning” seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., June 9, at the Texas Health Resources University complex, which is on the south side of Texas Health Dallas’ main campus.

Featured speakers will be Ryan Shaw, B.S.N., R.N., CHPN, hospice services information; Joel Lazarine, legal director of Dallas Legal Hospice; and Maria Berinti, P.T., stress management for caregivers. The three will tackle how to get help and find peace with end-of-life decisions that many caregivers have to make for their loved ones. The speakers will discuss how at the end of life people often receive ineffective, expensive medical treatments, while their physical comfort, spiritual and emotional needs are poorly addressed.

The seminar is for caregivers, family members and loved ones.

Attendance and parking are free, but seating is limited. To make a reservation, call 1-877-THR-WELL or go to TexasHealth.org/Classes.
