KAUFMAN, Texas — More than 150 runners and walkers participated in Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman’s Spring Into Action 5K in March, raising more than $6,000 for the hospital’s car seat safety initiative.

The Child Automobile Safety Initiative is part of Texas Health Kaufman’s mission to improve the health of people in the Kaufman community.

The car seat checkups are held at the hospital on the fourth Saturday of each month. The program includes checks of child safety seats for Kaufman County families — and provides free seats to parents whose do not have a child car seat that meets national safety guidelines. The program also offers safety tips for parents when traveling with children.
