New Radiology Director at Texas Health Allen Counts Aviation as Hobby|
ALLEN, Texas — Greg Pipes isn’t just focused on radiology. He’s a pilot and has a master’s degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
But when he’s not thinking about aeronautics, Pipes sees lots of opportunities ahead to improve Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen’s radiology services.
As the new director of radiology, Pipes, M.S., R.T. (R)(CT)(CV), ACHE, C.R.A., said that he is excited to be working with a staff of 40 employees at Texas Health Allen. The hospital offers a wide range of radiology services, including CT scans, MRI, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology and mammography in the breast center.
“We will work diligently towards broadening our scope of services to meet our customer needs while focusing on building strong relationships with our patients and referring physicians through improved communication, education, and access to care,” Pipes said. One of the ways he will be expanding the scope of the department’s services is by training staff to provide more procedures using the hospital’s existing equipment.
Chief Nursing Officer Jane Cook said she is excited to have Pipes on the team and working to improve the radiology process for patients and for physicians on the medical staff.
“Our employees in radiology are key members of the Texas Health Allen team and we are pleased to have Greg implementing his vision for radiology to grow in the future,” Cook said.
Pipes has spent 20 years working in radiology and more than 14 years in health care administration. He is nearing completion of a master's degree in business administration from Texas A&M University.
When he’s not busy at work or in a plane, Pipes says he is a family man — with four daughters and one grandson. Pipes lives in Wylie.
