Texas Health Plano Hosting Free Health Seminars in September

PLANO, Texas — Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano will host two free health seminars in September. The events are free but registration is required by calling 1-877-THR-WELL (1-877-847-9355). The hospital also is launching a breast cancer support group in September.

Women’s Health Connection
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano Women’s Health Connection presents “Alzheimer's 101 and Mental Aerobics” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11 in the Bluebonnet Room. The hospital is located at 6200 W. Parker Road in Plano. Presented by The Alzheimer’s Association, the program includes an overview of what Alzheimer's disease is, related dementias, information and tools for the care giver to use for communication, and tools for coping with challenging behaviors. "Mental Aerobics" will promote continued intellectual activity. Stretch your mental muscle. Think of your brain as a muscle which must be exercised to stay in shape! Exercises to be demonstrated include spontaneous drills, quizzes, cartoon meanings, rebus exercises and arithmetic problems. Heart of a Woman - Advances in Medicine
Dr. Amir Choudhry, a cardiologist on the medical staff at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, will speak about women and heart disease at an Advances in Medicine lecture from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18 in the Texas Health Plano Bluebonnet Room. Nutrition for the Breast Cancer Survivor
Julie Conary, R.D., L.D., CSO, will speak about nutrition for breast cancer survivors, their family and friends in the first of a monthly support group for breast cancer survivors. The free event will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18. The meeting will be held in the main hospital on the lower level in the Pecan Room.
