Texas Health Resources Administrator Honored in Modern Healthcare Magazine|
ARLINGTON, Texas — Becky Tucker, administrator for Texas Health Harris Methodist Outpatient Center Burleson, has been included on the 2012 “Up and Comers” list, produced by Modern Healthcare magazine.
“Up and Comers” is a nation-wide program that recognizes individuals 40 years of age and younger who have made significant contributions in the areas of health care administration, management or policy. Only 12 individuals make the list each year.
“Becky Tucker exemplifies Texas Health’s commitment to finding and developing outstanding young individuals,” said Barclay Berdan, FACHE, chief operating officer and senior vice president for Texas Health Resources. “She is a dynamic executive who is leading health care reform at the local level, inspiring both our patients and our staff to change how they think about health care. Becky is very deserving of this significant award.”
Tucker has been with Texas Health for 11 years, starting as an administrative assistant at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano. While there, she completed degrees in business and health care administration. After graduation, she was accepted as an administrative resident and fellow at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, becoming Texas Health’s first internal candidate in the program.
Upon completing the program, Tucker was named director of ambulatory clinics and physician services at Texas Health Fort Worth in 2006. During that time, she expanded the hospital’s Executive Health Program by 65 percent. She also oversaw the development, construction and implementation of five physician timeshares, increasing health care access to underserved communities.
In 2007, Tucker was assigned to develop a business plan for the facility in Burleson, which was still in the planning stage. She oversaw the design and construction of the facility, and five months after Texas Health Burleson opened in 2010, she was named administrator. Tucker now supervises a facility with more than 70 employees and a budget of $15 million.
“My parents taught me that hard work is necessary to achieve your goals, and that, at the end of the day, you should love what you do,” Tucker said. “I entered healthcare because I wanted a profession that was challenging and gave me the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others.
“At Texas Health Burleson, I am surrounded by individuals with years and years of experience. I always try to benefit from their expertise, and I’m grateful for their continued support. I’m also indebted to Texas Health’s leadership for the opportunities they have given me. It’s truly an honor to be included on this list.”
Tucker also is a board member of the United Way of Tarrant County and past chair of the United Way’s Younger Leadership Society Executive Committee. She also serves on the board of the Alzheimer’s Association of North Central Texas.
