Texas Health Alliance President Earns Award From US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce 02/20/2013 FORT WORTH, Texas — Winjie Tang Miao, president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance, has been honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award from the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce-Southwest Region. The award was presented to Miao at the chamber’s 12th annual Lunar New Year Good Fortune Celebration Honoring Top Ten Asian American businesses.
“The Outstanding Achievement Award was presented to Winjie to recognize her professional success and contributions. She is a positive role model for young women in the community, especially Asian-American women,” said Grace McDermott, president of the chamber. Miao was instrumental in the planning, development and opening of Texas Health Alliance, Texas Health Resources' newest full-service hospital. Texas Health Alliance began serving patients in September 2012. Prior to her role with Texas Health Alliance, she served as the president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle. Under her leadership, the hospital expanded services and received national recognition for its quality and community health efforts. Miao began her career in health care administration in 2000 as an administrative resident at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. While serving as administrative director, Miao led planning and implementation of the hospital’s acute care expansion, a $207 million renovation project. In addition, she optimized eight ambulatory clinics and developed breast health and other cancer-related programs. Miao received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., and a master's degree in healthcare administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Miao has also been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of its 2012 “25 Healthcare Leaders Under Age 40.” In 2008, she was honored as one of Modern Healthcare's “Up and Comers.” “I’m honored that the US Pan Asian American Chamber wanted to honor my achievements,” Miao said. “The success of Texas Health Alliance can be credited to our talented, hard-working team members who bring their best to work every day.” About Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance About Texas Health Resources For more information about Texas Health Resources, call 1-877-THR-WELL, or visit TexasHealth.org. |
