DALLAS — Seven nurses at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas have been recognized with D Magazine’s Excellence in Nursing Awards. The awards recognize nurses for exceptional contributions to their patients, communities and profession.

The nurses were selected from 339 nominations and 81 finalists in 21 categories. Two nurses were winners in their fields of nursing, with five others named finalists.

The honorees are:

• Thao Nguyen, R.N., B.S.N., R.N.C-NIC, CCR.N., neonatal intensive care direct care nurse, winner in Neonatal;
• Julie Balluck, M.S.N., R.N., CPAN, NEA-BC, director of surgical services, winner in Surgery;
• Lian Chow, B.S.N., R.N., CPAN, direct care nurse for post anesthesia care, finalist in Surgery;
• Shasion Carter, B.S.N., R.N., direct care nurse for post anesthesia care, finalist in Surgery;
• Irva Rubin, R.N., staff nurse for gynecology, finalist in Women’s Health;
• Susan Cooper, B.S.N., R.N., CPAN, nurse manager for post anesthesia care, finalist in Surgery; and
• Barbara Baggett, R.N., direct-care nurse for orthopedics, finalist in Orthopedics.
