Texas Health Allen Wound Care Center earns Center of Distinction Award|
ALLEN, Texas — The Wound Care Center at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen has earned a Center of Distinction Award. The award recognizes centers that achieve high quality outcomes for 12 consecutive months.
More than 400 patients were treated at the Texas Health Allen Wound Care Center in 2012. The center had a patient satisfaction score of more than 96 percent. Patients at the center saw their wounds heal within 30 days in 97 percent of cases.
“We are thrilled to be recognized for the care we provide each patient,” said Dawnett Willis, program director. “It is very rewarding to help patients who have often been suffering from painful, chronic wounds for a long time to get back to the activities they love doing.”
An estimated 26 million people have diabetes, According to the American Diabetes Association. Of that population, an estimated 15 percent will develop chronic wounds. In Allen, an estimated 40 percent of wound care patients have diabetes.
The center treats a wide range of wounds such as diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, pressure ulcers, arterial ulcers, venous insufficiency, traumatic wounds and burns.
“This is a highly specialized service that we can provide our patients close to home,” said Jeff Reecer, hospital president.
Healogics Inc. recognized the Texas Health Allen Wound Care Center with the award.
