Leapfrog Group Awards Top Safety Grade to Texas Health HEB|
BEDFORD, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless Bedford earned an “A” grade for patient safety, according to the latest Hospital Safety Scores from The Leapfrog Group. Texas Health HEB was the only hospital in Northeast Tarrant County to receive the top grade.
The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog on the quality and safety of hospital care, used publicly available quality and safety measures, as well as leadership commitment to creating a safe environment for patients, to come up with the letter grade.
Nationally, only about a third of the 2,539 hospitals scored were ranked “A.” Eleven Texas Health Resources hospitals received the top grade, including Texas Health HEB.
“We are pleased that all of our caregivers’ efforts to continually improve the quality and safety of care we provide have been recognized by The Leapfrog Group,” said Deborah Paganelli, FACHE, president of Texas Health HEB.
“As Texas Health HEB carries out our mission of improving the health of the people in Northeast Tarant County, we place a high emphasis on the quality and safety of the care we deliver,” said Dr. Susann Land, chief medical officer for Texas Health HEB. “This means being transparent and accountable for our quality and safety. We welcome public report cards such as the Leapfrog rankings."
Calculated under the guidance of The Leapfrog Group’s eight-member Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety Score uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single score representing a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from infections, injuries, and medical and medication errors.
Individual hospital scores can be viewed at the Hospital Safety Score website at hospitalsafetyscore.org.
