TexasHealth.org Only Site in Texas with URAC Accreditation

ARLINGTON, Texas – Texas Health Resources (THR), one of the largest faith-based, nonprofit health care delivery systems in the United States, today announced that its Web site, www.texashealth.org, is the only health care site based in Texas to currently hold URAC Health Web Site accreditation.

URAC Health Web Site Accreditation LogoURAC, an independent, nonprofit organization, offers a wide range of quality benchmarking programs and services that keep pace with the rapid changes in health care, and provides a symbol of excellence for organizations to validate their commitment to quality and accountability.

“By applying for and receiving URAC accreditation, Texas Health Resources has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care,” said Garry Carneal, URAC president and CEO. “Quality health care is crucial to our nation's welfare, and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards.”

The accreditation was announced just as THR began the rollout of its updated and expanded consumer Web site, TexasHealth.org. The Web site is easy to navigate, full of helpful content and features a totally new design and color palette that makes individual pages more inviting and easier to use.

“Just as THR continues to grow and change, so should its Web site. We want to mirror the dynamism within our system,” said Doug Hawthorne, president and CEO of THR. “Providing new, powerful features and a fresh look to our Web site is one way we answer the health care needs of the communities we serve.”

THR has expanded its URAC accredited Web site content by adding a completely bilingual health encyclopedia that includes more than 4,000 comprehensive articles on diseases and conditions, surgeries and procedures, symptoms, tests, poisons and more. It also includes a rich video library with engaging segments on major organs and an interactive Body Guide tool covering all anatomical structures. All health encyclopedia features are available in English and Spanish.

TexasHealth.org also offers information about THR's 13 hospitals and the services each provides. Site visitors can quickly and conveniently:

  • Pre-register for a hospital stay or outpatient visit
  • Pay a hospital bill online with a credit card or checking account number
  • Register and pay for health education classes, such as prepared childbirth, CPR, first-aid, and more
  • Self-refer to a doctor using the convenient Find a Physician database
  • Send an e-greeting to a friend or family member hospitalized in a THR facility
  • Find a job in the THR system and join the ranks of more than 17,000 employees striving to improve the health of the people in the communities THR serves.

The redesigned Web site also includes a new and intuitive system of navigation links available from any page on the site. Users will find that by surfing through major categories, they can quickly and easily access hierarchical submenus to virtually any page or content anywhere on the site.
