HMFW Awards Robert Davis Scholarship|
FORT WORTH, Texas — Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital awarded its first Robert Davis Memorial Scholarship established by the Harris Methodist Health Foundation. Each year, the scholarship will be given to one HMFW Parish Nurse Program volunteer and will provide for them to travel to St. Louis, Missouri to attend the Westberg Parish Nurse Symposium, sponsored by the International Parish Nurse Resource Center.
This year’s recipient is Cindy Bozarth, RN, a nurse on the HMFW Post-Anesthesia Recovery nursing unit and the parish nurse for Lake Worth United Methodist Church.
"It’s an honor to be awarded this scholarship," Bozarth said. "I’m so happy that HMFW is carrying on Rev. Davis’ memory and his vision for the Parish Nurse Program."
Before he died earlier this year, Rev. Davis was the senior chaplain for the Harris Methodist Health System, and it was his leadership, vision and dedication that made the Parish Nurse Program possible.
Davis’ wife, Pat, daughter, Melinda Wester and granddaughter, Dani Wester attended the Sept. 8 ceremony, along with members of the Harris Methodist Health Foundation, Administration, Community Education and the Pastoral Care Department.
Opened in 1930, HMFW is Tarrant County’s largest and busiest hospital and regional referral center. A member of Texas Health Resources, HMFW is licensed for 610 beds and provides the following services: cardiovascular; neurosciences; orthopedics and sports medicine; rehabilitation; adult critical care and neonatal intensive care; high risk and routine obstetrics and gynecology; trauma and emergency medicine; cancer care; medical/surgical; kidney transplants; occupational health; and more.
