Harris Methodist Springwood Shares Expertise with Russian Physicians|
BEDFORD, Texas – Russian physicians recently visited Harris Methodist Springwood, a licensed psychiatric hospital located on the campus of Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital, to learn new technologies and treatments available in addiction and psychiatric medicine.
In psychiatric and addiction treatment research, there is a growing global concern about behavioral health problems. In St. Petersburg, Russia the number of people diagnosed with a behavioral health condition has reached monumental proportions. Despite many attempts to address this issue, the population afflicted with these conditions continues to grow, said Alice VanHuss, administrative director of Harris Methodist Springwood.
The delegation of Russian psychiatrists and addictionologists participated in a forum on chemical dependency and psychiatric medicine. The group also focused on the technologies applied to fight drug and alcohol dependence in the United States, the role of behavioral health care in the private and public sector, and pharmacological options for people with behavioral health problems. The event allowed medical staff of Harris Methodist Springwood Hospital and the Russian physicians to explore the challenges facing the global community in treating and alleviating the pain and suffering associated with behavioral health disorders, VanHuss said.
