THR Named Most Wired and Finalist for Two Innovator Awards|
ARLINGTON, Texas — Texas Health Resources, an Arlington, Texas-based health care system, was named as one of the 100 Most Wired hospitals for the eighth time in nine years. The system was selected from 568 surveys, representing approximately 1,284 hospitals.
Names of the 2007 Most Wired hospitals are printed in the July issue of Hospital & Health Networks, the journal of the American Hospital Association.
"It’s quite an honor to be recognized as a Most Wired hospital for the eighth time,” said Mike Alverson, acting chief information officer of Texas Health Resources. “These initiatives are a combination of people, process and technology, not just technology alone. Healthcare IT is a team sport.”
THR was also named a finalist for the Innovator Award for two projects: a training and development program for the electronic health record and a comprehensive financial portal that provides one location for obtaining in-depth relevant financial, productivity and patient volume measures by 10 a.m. the subsequent day.
In 2004, 2005 and 2006, the first three years in which this Innovator Award was established, THR received an award. THR is the only company to be recognized every year as an Innovator and is the first to be recognized for two projects in one year.
“We’re particularly proud of our reputation for innovation,” said Alverson. “We want these technological innovations to enhance the collaborative care that improves our clinical outcomes and patient safety. These innovations enable the patient and family journey to be as seamless as possible, which is exactly what the community expects of us.”
The Most Wired survey grades hospitals based on the emphasis the organization places on online technology. The awards will be presented at the Health Forum and American Hospital Association Leadership Summit Activities July 22 to 24 in San Diego, Calif.
