Before September ushers in the fall, many Texans will enjoy the last days of summer on the lake. But, before you go out to enjoy the last hurrah on the lake, it may be a good idea to enroll the entire family in a boater education course.
Nearly 85 percent of all boating fatality victims were not wearing a life jacket, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). In addition, about two-thirds of these deaths were drowning victims because they could not swim.
