Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital to Host Blood Drive|
STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Looking for a way to make a large contribution to your community without spending a dime? Donate blood.
Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital will host a blood drive to help boost the blood supply in Erath County. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The blood drive will be held in at the hospital with the support of Carter BloodCare.
Why donate? Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, according to the American Red Cross, but only five percent of the eligible U.S. population gives blood each year.
Blood is needed for emergencies, people who have cancer, blood disorders, sickle cell anemia and other diseases, according the Red Cross.
Anyone in the community who is 17 or older, weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good health is welcome to donate blood. Donors must bring photo identification to participate.
“Blood drives are crucial for keeping the blood supply level to help patients with chronic diseases and those in emergency situations,” said Debra Higgins, blood bank supervisor at Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital. “Residents of Stephenville and the surrounding areas are always generous with our blood drives and we look forward to another successful effort.”
