Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital Purchases Equipment For Blood Flow Studies|
CLEBURNE, Texas — Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital recently purchased ultrasound equipment that enables clinicians to track the flow of blood in a patient.
The equipment helps test patients for possible blood clots, detect whether a patient’s arteries are clogged or look for possible tumors. The equipment uses sound waves to visualize how blood flows through major arteries and veins in areas such as the abdomen, arms, legs and neck.
Previously, Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital contracted with an outside company to provide the service, but hospitals officials chose to bring the service line in-house. By purchasing the equipment, hospital officials can offer the testing around the clock, thereby seeing more patients and offering a faster turnaround time, said Kevin Sullivan, manager of cardiopulmonary services.
“Having the new equipment has been great,” Sullivan said. “Our patients are pleased with the convenience of the expanded hours and our employees are enjoying helping more patients.”
The new equipment comes to the hospital during Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month. Since installing the equipment in October, the hospital has seen cases rise because hospital officials have more flexibility in scheduling patients.
“Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital is committed to investing in technology to better serve our patients,” said Blake Kretz, hospital president. “We’re constantly looking at ways to improve our service hours and help patients have a wonderful experience at our facility.”
A physician’s order is required to schedule a test. For more information please call 817-556-7627. To schedule an appointment, please call 817-556-5400.
