Harris Methodist Northwest Hospital Recognized for Medical Billing Accuracy|
AZLE, Texas — Harris Methodist Northwest Hospital (HMNW) was recognized as a top 200 coder in 2008 for outstanding performance in medical coding and billing. To achieve this honor, the hospital demonstrated a high level of Medicare billing accuracy for hospital services.
HMNW participated in a study conducted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to develop best practices in medical billing and coding. More than 4,600 hospitals were included in the study, and HMNW ranked sixth among the top 50 urban, non-teaching facilities that were recognized.
To identify the top hospitals in the country, CMS identified 13 coding scenarios that are most frequently associated with errors, and compared them with the frequency with which the hospital made these errors.
“Each employee, physician and volunteer of this hospital is connected to the care that we deliver. We continue to set high standards of service in healthcare at HMNW,” said Winjie Tang Miao, president of Harris Methodist Northwest Hospital. “This honor reflects our commitment to providing excellence in every aspect of care, even after our patients leave the hospital.”
The award was presented to the medical records department on Dec. 17.
