Monument Honoring Walls Family Installed at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne|
CLEBURNE, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne has installed a monument honoring the Walls family’s contribution to the hospital.
The hospital changed its name on Jan. 1 to reflect a unifying brand of the parent organization, Texas Health Resources. But other changes are in store that will keep the Walls name on the hospital.
“We are thrilled for the support of the Walls family as we make this transition,” said Blake Kretz, hospital president. “We also will rename the main hospital building Walls Tower to recognize the influence the family has had on the hospital.”
In 1983, George S. Walls donated money to purchase the land on which the hospital now sits. A member of the Walls family has sat on the hospital’s board of trustees since the hospital opened in 1986.
“Our family treasures the long history we have with the hospital and we look forward to seeing the hospital continue to grow,” said Sam Walls, board chair of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne, and a member of the Texas Health board as well as the Harris Methodist Health System board. “Texas Health provides a wide network of facilities in which residents of Cleburne and the surrounding areas can access quality care.”
In 2009, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne will commission a painting, featuring a collage of the Walls family, to recognize their ties to the hospital. Also, a reception to honor the Walls family will be held.
