Texas Health Southwest Recognized as 'Fit-Friendly'|
FORT WORTH, Texas — The American Heart Association named Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth to its list of companies that go the extra mile for employee health.
For the second year in a row, the hospital earned the "Gold Start! Fit-Friendly Company" designation for promoting physical activity and healthy eating habits in the workplace with these initiatives:
“At Texas Health Resources, we’re committed to helping our employees learn to live healthier lifestyles,” said Texas Health Southwest Fort Worth President Brett McClung. ”When employees participate in regular exercise, they feel more energized both on and off the job.”
Texas Health strives to create a culture of health by offering wellness programs to employees, such as the Be Healthy program, which awards up to $300 per year to those who complete a health assessment, lab panel, lifestyle management program, preventive exam, stress assessment and back health assessment. Healthier employees help minimize cost increases in health insurance and increase employee productivity, according to the American Heart Association.
More than 900 U.S. companies have received the Start! Fit-Friendly designation.
