“We are thrilled that Dr. Guttuso has chosen to practice in Mabank and to work with Texas Health Kaufman,” said Texas Health Kaufman President Patsy Youngs. “Dr. Guttuso brings a unique perspective to the area with his wide ranging personal and professional accomplishments.”

Guttuso previously worked as a medical director in Sugar Land, Texas. He led 60 physicians in specialties ranging from family medicine, cardiology, dermatology to OB/GYN. He also helped in the development and structure of the new clinic.

But, he and his wife, Trinia, decided that they wanted to move to a smaller community to raise their three sons, Christopher, Anthony and Paul James. So they started putting feelers out in various Texas communities.

“I talked to all of them on the phone and enjoyed what I heard from Patsy the most,” Guttuso said. “Patsy has been more supportive than I could have hoped for.”

After a successful visit to the area meeting hospital and community leaders, Guttuso quickly settled on Mabank for his practice. He said he sees his practice growing into one that can treat almost any medical problem from newborns to senior citizens and well-care visits to broken limbs.

He said he’s enjoying his Mabank practice because it enables him to get more involved in the community than working in the larger cities.

Guttuso has a long history of volunteering. In 2005, he volunteered his time as a physician at the Houston Astrodome when hurricane Katrina struck. He also is working with local high school athletic trainers and athletes.

On April 14, Guttuso served as Family Physician of the Day for the Texas Legislature. In that role he staffed the Capitol Health Services Clinic treating any legislators or their staff as well as being on hand in case of emergencies. This is the second time he’s served as Family Physician of the Day.

Guttuso is a member of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
