Texas Health Stephenville Employees Raise Funds for March of Dimes|
STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville employees recently opened their hearts and pocketbooks to the 2009 March for Babies in Fort Worth.
“We were thrilled with the contributions of our employees with our fundraisers throughout the campaign and at the actual event,” said Devra LeFevre, R.N., director of nursing for women and children at Texas Health Stephenville.
LeFevre lead the Stephenville hospital’s campaign. Fundraisers included ice cream cone sales, an Easter basket drawing and a bake sale that combined raised more than $500.
“It was great to see all of our employees get so excited and involved in raising money,” she said. “We see the impact of prematurity in our hospital each day and so this cause was near to our hearts.”
Texas Health Stephenville employees raised more than $2,000 for the 2009 March for Babies in Fort Worth. The March for Babies is the March of Dimes largest fundraiser of the year.
Texas Health Resources CEO Doug Hawthorne served as chairman of the March for Babies in both Dallas and Fort Worth, marking the first time in Texas that one person has lead events in multiple cities.
Texas Health Stephenville sent 22 walkers to the March for Babies, including hospital employees, their friends and family.
“Our employees demonstrate their healing hands and caring hearts every day throughout the halls of Texas Health Stephenville,” said President Christopher Leu. “This was just another way that we fulfilled our mission of improving the health of people in the communities we serve. I am proud of Devra’s efforts and of everyone who participated in raising money for this great cause.”
