Texas Health Stephenville to offer Safe Sitter® Program|
STEPHENVILLE, Texas — While a comprehensive training manual has yet to be invented for parents, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville offers a training manual to teenagers who are interested in babysitting to earn extra money during their extra time off school this summer.
Texas Health Stephenville is offering Safe Sitter® classes throughout this summer to teach adolescent babysitters how to a handle crisis, how to keep their charges secure, CPR and care of a choking child, and other child care essentials.
“Babysitting is a huge responsibility,” said Jennifer McMeens, certified Safe Sitter® instructor and clinical educator at Texas Health Stephenville. “This course helps the babysitters understand what is involved and how to handle most situations, and parents can feel confident that their babysitter has been received proper training.”
Teens from 11 to 13 will be taught by a certified Safe Sitter® instructor on June 15, July 6 and July 17. Classes run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is a $40 cost to cover the materials and classes are limited to 12 students. To register, call 1-877-THR-WELL (1-877-847-9355).
Classes are also available by appointment for groups such as Sunday school classes and Girl Scouts.
