10/15/2009

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth area residents praise Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth for quality and image in the annual National Research Corporation’s survey and 2009-10 Consumer Choice Awards. Quality and image are two key things people remember after a visit to the hospital.

For 14 consecutive years, consumers in the Fort Worth area have chosen Texas Health Fort Worth as a leader in health care based on these benchmarks.

National Research Corporation (NRC), a leader in health care performance measurement, recognizes hospitals annually on various quality and image attributes such as best doctors, best nurses, best overall quality and best image and reputation.

“Year after year, our community has recognized Texas Health Fort Worth as leader in quality and leading-edge health care in Fort Worth,” said Oscar L. Amparan, president of Texas Health Fort Worth and executive vice president of Texas Health Resources. “This award is a direct result of the dedication and quality care that our employees, physicians and volunteers provide to our community.

“We are grateful that the residents of Tarrant and surrounding counties continue to choose Texas Health Fort Worth as the provider of choice for their health care needs.”

Approximately 250,000 households were surveyed nationally, representing more than 450,000 consumers.

Ginny Martin, president of NRC’s Ticker Division, said winners are determined by the company’s annual Healthcare Market Guide Study (HCMG), the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study of its kind.

“Healthcare has become an increasingly important issue across the country and empowered consumers are making decisions for themselves and their families when selecting their health care facilities and services,” Martin said. “As care options multiply and financial challenges remain strong, consumer perception of quality continues to grow in importance. Dedication to providing high quality healthcare has become essential for all hospitals. In the face of adversity, these Consumer Choice award winners exemplify the dedication it takes to provide quality healthcare to their communities, and we are please to honor them through the eyes of their patients.”
