Texas Health Kaufman Provides Bike Helmets to Local Children|
KAUFMAN, Texas — Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman recently partnered with Texas Medical Association to provide free bike helmets to local children.
The helmets were given away as part of “Hard hats for little heads,” a program to promote exercise, and teach parents and children about the importance of wearing a helmet when bicycling or participating in other activities, like skateboarding or roller skating, that carry the risk of serious falls. Donations from Blue Cross Blue Shield and Prudential Financial Services made the event possible.
“Safety helmets are an easy way to prevent potentially serious injuries,” said Pat Jackson, community representative for Texas Health Kaufman. “We’re delighted that so many families took advantage of the program.”
The helmet giveaway was part of Texas Health Kaufman’s community outreach efforts during the recent Kaufman Scarecrow Festival. More than 300 helmets were given away to children 6 to 12 years old.
