Texas Health Stephenville Wound Care Services to Host Open House|
STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville Wound Care Services will host an open house from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11 in honor of its third anniversary.
Members of the community are invited to stop by Wound Care Services to learn more about the services offered there and enjoy refreshments to celebrate with the staff and physicians.
Wound Care Services is an outpatient program that provides treatment for debilitating wounds that often haven’t healed after months or even years. The specialized treatments at the center often can get people back to normal, everyday life often within a matter of weeks and months.
Wounds are particularly problematic for diabetics. It's estimated that 18.5 million Americans have diabetes and of that population an estimated 1.8 million people will suffer from a problem wound. In addition to diabetics, wound care services also sees many patients with a condition that causes non-healing leg ulcers. The healing rate at the Stephenville center is 94 percent, which is higher than the national average of 89 percent.
“We invite members of the community to stop by to celebrate with us and we also invite our current and past patients to come share their inspirational stories or just to reconnect with staff and physicians,” said Patty Weidemann, program director. “We are so proud of the difference we are making in people’s lives and hope that others who have lived with these debilitating wounds will learn that there are treatment options out there no matter how long the wound has been a problem.”
