Texas Health Allen Employee Named 'Top 25 Rad Tech' Winner

ALLEN, Texas — One of this year’s Top 25 Radiologic Technologists in North Texas is from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen.

Tam Nguyen from was presented the award by the North Texas Radiologic Technologists Society. The “Top 25 Rad Techs” in North Texas are selected for their overall job performance, special efforts, and community, civic and professional involvement.

Sheila McKinney, president of Texas Health Allen, said Nguyen continually proves that patients in the hospital’s breast center come first — through her attitude, work ethic and unselfish dedication.

“Last year, Nguyen took it upon herself to design and create a new style of mammography gown that she felt would offer greater comfort and coverage for our breast center patients,” McKinney said. “Since then, she has sewn more than 300 gowns by hand for the center. Nguyen is quite deserving of this special recognition.”

Nguyen is a registered radiology, mammography and breast sonography technologist, having graduated from Orange County (Calif.) College. She moved to Dallas in 1995 and began her career at the Susan G. Komen Breast Center. Nguyen began working at Texas Health Allen in 2002.

Creating mammography gowns was an idea she conceived after listening to patients’ comments regarding the required gowns and wanting to better match their needs.
