HMWR Recognizes Volunteer of the Year|
CLEBURNE, Texas — Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital recently recognized Diane Applegate as Volunteer of the Year.
“I was speechless when they called my name for the award,” said Applegate. “And anyone who knows me was in shock, because I’m not usually speechless.”
Applegate has been a regular volunteer in the Case Management and Infection Control departments for three years. She also serves as the membership chairman and second vice president of the Women’s Auxiliary.
“I really enjoy volunteering at the hospital,” she said. “The hospital staff members are so busy with taking care of patients, and the volunteers are there to assist them. Our work allows the staff to focus on the patients. It’s beneficial for the hospital to have volunteers.”
Blake Kretz, president of HMWR, agrees.
“Our volunteers are valuable to our hospital,” Kretz said. “Diane is a shining example of the dedication they have to help make Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital the hospital of choice in the community.”
As membership chair for the Auxiliary, Applegate is responsible for recruiting new volunteers.
“I tell people all the time that if they have free time on their hands or looking for a place to volunteer, we’d love to have them,” Applegate said. “We’re bound to have something they’d enjoy doing.”
