Texas Health Southwest Fort Worth Earns National Recognition for Respiratory Care|
FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth recently earned recognition for quality in respiratory care from the American Association for Respiratory Care.
The Quality Respiratory Care Recognition Program helps patients and families make informed decisions about the quality of the respiratory care services available in hospitals. Facilities that earn the designation help increase patient safety by adhering to strict care guidelines, such as making respiratory therapists available 24 hours a day and designating a doctor of medicine or osteopath as medical director of its services.
Nearly 700 U.S. hospitals, or approximately 15 percent, have received this designation. The full 2010 list will be publicly posted on April 15 on the association’s Web site for consumers, YourLungHealth.org.
“Our team is comprised of registered respiratory therapists, certified respiratory therapists, and an electrocardiograph technician who all strive to provide the highest quality respiratory care services to our patients,” said Dan Perrine, manager of the hospital’s cardiopulmonary department. “This recognition highlights the work that we do every day, and we are honored to be recognized by our peers in the respiratory care profession.”
