Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen Hires Chief Quality Officer|
ALLEN, Texas — Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen has named Dr. Robert A. Schwab as its new chief quality officer (CQO). As CQO, he will work closely with hospital and physician leadership to promote clinical excellence and safety in patient care.
“With his expansive knowledge of patient safety, palliative care and emergency medicine, along with the completion of 19 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Schwab will be an asset to Texas Health Allen, and our focus on safe, quality care will grow even stronger,” said Texas Health Allen President Sheila McKinney.
Schwab joins the Texas Health Allen family from St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., where he served in the patient safety/risk management department.
“The chief quality officer's job is to lead the effort to make health care delivery better and safer,” Schwab said. “In order to succeed, you need to have an organization that prioritizes quality and safety above other concerns; I believe that Texas Health is that type of organization, and I'm looking forward to working with the hospitals and clinical staffs to accomplish our goals.”
Schwab will also serve as vice president and CQO for Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton.
“We feel confident his skills and talents — combined with the dedicated team of clinicians and administrators across our system — will help us achieve success as we carry out our mission to improve the health of the people in the communities we serve,” McKinney said.
Schwab graduated from the University of Virginia College of Arts and Sciences. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. During his career he has worked for such health care facilities as Truman Medical Center and Missouri’s Family Health Partners. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine.
Every Texas Health Resources hospital employs a CQO — a physician whose job is the continuous improvement of patient care. The CQO position reflects Texas Health’s commitment to engaging physicians, nurses and staff at all levels in providing quality clinical care to patients.
Schwab and his wife, Cathy, have two children, Tyler and Emily.
