March of Dimes Honors Texas Health Arlington Memorial NICU Nurse|
ARLINGTON, Texas — The March of Dimes - Texas Chapter honored Laura Jones, BSN, RNC-NIC, neonatal nurse and clinical educator at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, with the Texas Excellence in Perinatal Nursing Award. Jones was selected among nurses from counties in region three, which includes Tarrant, Dallas, Denton, and 16 others across North Texas.
The award recognizes and encourages excellence within the areas of perinatal clinical practice, education, research, community, and program development. Award recipients include nurses who reach beyond job expectations to make a difference in the lives of mothers and babies; foster a positive working relationship between family and the health care team; take innovative approaches to positively impact patient care; and inspire peers to strive for nursing excellence.
“Laura works above and beyond the regular nurse,” said Bonnie Pigg, nursing supervisor in the labor and delivery unit at Texas Health Arlington Memorial. “She constantly strives to make things better and safer for everyone around her. She is truly an excellent nurse and I am proud and humbled to be able to work with her.”
Jones has 28 years of experience in neonatal intensive care. She joined Texas Health Arlington Memorial in 1992. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from California State University in 1982 and a legal nurse consulting certification from the Medical-Legal Consulting Institute, Inc. in 2004.
