Texas Health Stephenville Celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Mammography Special
09/29/2010

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The air is beginning to get cooler and Breast Cancer Awareness Month is right around the corner, so now is a great time to schedule an annual screening mammogram.

From Oct. 11 to Oct. 22, Texas Health Stephenville will offer discounted digital screening mammograms. The screening mammograms will cost $75 during that time period and no insurance claims will be filed. Payment is due at the time of service. The special will enable women without insurance, or with high deductible plans, to schedule their annual mammogram without worrying about the full cost of the test.

The National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society, and the American College of Radiology recommend women age 40 and older have annual mammograms. Women with dense breasts or under 50 years old are specifically encouraged to get a digital mammogram, according to breastcancer.org.

“For women who fit the criteria, getting a yearly mammogram should be an appointment they do not miss,” said Dr. Nanette Evans, a physician on the medical staff at Texas Health Stephenville. “While mammograms aren’t the most fun experience for women, they do help physicians catch breast cancer in the earliest, and most treatable, stages.”

“We are pleased to offer a screening mammogram special to women as one way we celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” said Christopher Leu, hospital president.

To schedule an appointment for a mammogram, call 254-552-3120.
