Texas Health Burleson Opens Stand-alone Emergency Department|
BURLESON, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Outpatient Center Burleson is opening a stand-alone, 10-bed emergency department to care for the emergent medical needs of the Burleson, Joshua and Crowley communities.
Set to open October 4, the new emergency department will be equipped to handle acute medical emergencies and is located on the campus of Texas Health Burleson.
The facility will host a Family Safety Event, including a sneak preview of the emergency department on Saturday, Oct. 2, from 10:00 a.m. until noon at 2750 SW Wilshire Blvd.
“As the community continues to grow, we saw a need to increase access to emergency services that are quick and convenient,” said Becky Tucker, administrator of Texas Health Burleson. “We are excited about being the first stand-alone emergency department in this community.”
The emergency department will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will be staffed by the same physician group that delivers emergency care at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospitals in Fort Worth, Southwest Fort Worth and Cleburne.
“Our physicians and nurses are trained to handle a multitude of medical conditions,” said Dr. Brad Commons, medical director of the emergency department at Texas Health Burleson. “Many medical emergencies require immediate medical intervention and stabilization. The emergency department in Burleson can be this communities’ first stop. If the patient requires a higher-level of care, the patient will be sent to the appropriate hospital by air or ground ambulance.”
The emergency department will initially open with 10 beds with the capability of expanding to 15.
