A Hero Who’s Always on CallWhen Vicki Haley, R.T.R., nuclear medical technologist at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman, was first learning to conduct and read radiology tests, her instructor told her to care for her patients as if they were family. She has followed that advice ever since.
For the last 21 years, Vicki has performed countless bone and thyroid scans and stress tests, as well as other imaging services. This experience allows her to offer patients a wealth of knowledge and a personable approach to care.
In fact, Vicki works around patients’ schedules rather than sticking to office hours.
One patient needed to have a thyroid scan performed, but because the family had only one car and the patient’s husband could not take the day off from his job in Dallas, she met the patient and her husband at Texas Health Kaufman at 5 a.m. That same day, she
performed another thyroid scan for a patient, and after discovering the patient had planned to wait for four hours until her son could pick her up, Vicki drove the patient home.
“I was taught to treat every patient like he or she is my grandmother,” she says. “People don’t care about how much you know until they know you care about them. At Texas Health Kaufman, patients know they are part of our family.”
Texas Health Kaufman takes a great deal of pride in employees who go above and beyond to provide excellent patient care because
of their passion to be exceptional care providers. We would like to commend Vicki and other hospital employees who exemplify what it means to care for patients.
