Compensation and Benefits
Texas Health’s compensation and benefits packages are tangible evidence of our investment in the professionals who help us achieve our mission. When we invest in employee health, our workers are happier and more productive, which ultimately translates to better care for our patients and our communities.
Our generous benefits have been recognized both by employees and external entities, and contribute to our high employee retention rate. Texas Health regularly re-evaluates offerings, and conducts market analyses to ensure salaries and benefits remain competitive.
We made the philosophical decision years ago to offer employees tiered health care premiums by salary level so that coverage was affordable for all. We also offer incentives for employees to participate in preventive exams and screenings, which can help them more effectively prevent, manage and
Our benefit programs help employees take care of their body, mind and spirit, today and in the future. Our retirement plan is designed to help employees save for the future. For long-term employees, Texas Health matches $1.25 for every dollar they contribute to their 401(k) plan, which gives us a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Additionally, we offer unique employee benefits, from onsite childcare services and discounted fitness centers, to chapels in each hospital to employee discounts on various products and services, such as vacations or pet insurance.
Employee satisfaction with our benefits remains high, as evidenced by our 2012 employee survey. Nearly 90 percent responded that our benefit programs fit their needs. Written comments validated that satisfaction with benefits is one reason employees choose to work at Texas Health Resources.
In 2011-2012, we:
- Created a new compensation package specifically to meet the needs of a large physician group we acquired.
- Added unique salary ranges to certain clinical jobs, allowing us to make sure employees in highly competitive positions are paid well compared to other local employers.
- Continued to keep our benefits costs low, which helps strengthen the system’s financial viability.
- Moved all employees to a common review date based on the calendar year to more closely align individual performance with system and hospital performance.
In coming years, we plan to continue finding ways to optimize the health and productivity of our employees and their families, manage health plan costs, offer market competitive pay and benefits, and maintain high satisfaction with our compensation and benefit packages.
