Small Steps Lead to Big Strides

By taking small steps, Virgil Marble has made great strides.
Virgie has lowered his blood pressure and cholesterol, and lost a remarkable 54 pounds.

By taking small steps, Virgil Marble has made great strides. After his doctor cautioned him last year about his weight, blood pressure and cholesterol, “Virgie” decided it was time to make some changes.

So the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth Nutritional Services employee started eating better.

He also started exercising: Each day he comes to work, Virgie walks three laps around the hospital, a distance of more than two miles.

During the warmer months, he walks early in the morning, and during the winter, he has switched to afternoons. He also walks at home on his days off.

All these changes have really paid off: Since starting his regimen in May 2012, Virgie has lowered his blood pressure and cholesterol, and lost a remarkable 54 pounds. Way to go Virgie!
