Sit in the butterfly pose with the soles of your feet together.
How to do it
Do the butterfly yoga pose: First, sit on the floor with your back straight. Slowly bring the soles of your feet together. Hold on to your ankles, and let your knees drop as close as they can to the floor. Your legs should form a little diamond shape in front of you. Don't force your knees down or pull your feet in toward your groin. Close your eyes and take 5 deep breaths.
Why it matters
Yoga helps to promote flexibility, good posture, and relaxation, and it's a type of exercise that doesn't put stress on the joints. The butterfly pose in particular tones the hips and pelvis, and helps the thigh muscles become more flexible. Breathing deeply during the pose stimulates the relaxation response, which helps you feel calm and centered.
