Texas Health Resources' Health Information Exchange (HIE) gives the provider a full view of information needed to make well-informed clinical decisions for the patient. Lab results, test results, and other clinical information from physician and hospital visits — regardless of organizational boundaries — can be found on the HIE.

Patient Benefits

  • Patients benefit from improved quality and coordination of care facilitated by the HIE, which can:
  • Reduce the possibility of medical errors due to incomplete or inaccurate information.
  • Improve appropriate treatment recommendations.
  • Improve patient-physician communication, as well as communication across the continuum of your care.
  • Reduce the need for you to manually pick-up and/or deliver medical records.
  • Reduce orders for duplicate test and procedures which may reduce cost.

Provider Benefits

  • Build Connections: Texas Health's Health Information Exchange breaks down barriers between providers and gives them access to more clinical information. The HIE allows for real time data flow between hospitals and providers and makes the information more timely and relevant. Collaboration is powering this exchange of health care data among providers.
  • Save time: The Texas Health Resources Health Information Exchange provides you clinical information integrated into a complete longitudinal record, saving you and your staff time in tracking down patient information.
  • Improve quality and coordination of care: Convenient access to timely and more complete patient information helps facilitate more informed decision making. Armed with information from Texas Health’s Health Information Exchange, clinicians can improve both the coordination and quality of care. Less duplication of tests and procedures, less paperwork and fewer hospital admissions can potentially be achieved by participating in the HIE.
