John W. Hollingsworth II, M.D., FCCP, is medical director for critical care and pulmonary and critical care sub-specialty education coordinator. He completed undergraduate studies in biology at Colorado College in Colorado Springs and received his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Galveston. Dr. Hollingsworth completed his internship and residency training and served as chief resident at UTMB Galveston. He also completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, where he served as assistant and then associate professor of medicine.
Dr. Hollingsworth has been awarded multiple R-01 grants to study various aspects of pulmonary immunity and inflammation from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He also led an NIH-funded basic science laboratory while at Duke University, where he actively mentored students in basic science research. He has published more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and lectures nationally and internationally on pulmonary innate immunity and airway inflammation. Most recently, he has been involved in clinical research on COVID-19 pneumonia. Dr. Hollingsworth is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease and critical care medicine.
Dr. Hollingsworth is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American Association of Immunologists, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Society of Clinical Investigators, Texas Medical Association and the Tarrant County Medical Society. He has been nominated a “Top Doctors” by readers of Fort Worth Magazine since 2018. In his free time, Dr. Hollingsworth enjoys spending time with his wife and three children at their lake house.
