Dr. Adriana Foster is a Board-Certified psychiatrist and a Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Foster has extensive clinical experience, having worked at the Veterans Administration hospital, as well as in academic, private and community mental health centers. She has worked in outpatient, inpatient and emergency room settings with diverse populations including veterans, people who are uninsured, those who experience homelessness, lack access to healthcare, immigrants and refugees, victims of trauma and human trafficking and people who have been recently incarcerated. She became a full Professor of Psychiatry with over 50 peer-reviewed articles and 20 book chapters published across 21 years in academia. Her research in the treatment of schizophrenia, suicide and the role of empathy in healthcare led to her understanding that people can and want to recover from mental illness and she strives to support her patients in their health journey. Dr. Foster’s approach to mental health includes a collaborative approach to whole person healing in mind, body and spirit.
