She went on to become certified as a family nurse practitioner and gastroenterology registered nurse. She has served as a GI nurse practitioner in the Fort Worth area since 2015 with a focus on caring for patients with chronic and autoimmune liver disorders, inflammatory bowel diseases and other GI concerns.
Petya earned her undergraduate nursing degree at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. She later returned to the classroom to earn her master’s degree in nursing with emphasis in family nurse practitioner studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Petya is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, and Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. Away from the office, she enjoys gardening, crafting and crocheting. She grew up in Bulgaria and is able to cater to a diverse patient population because of her fluency in Bulgarian and Russian.
