Better Choices, Better Health
The Better Choices, Better Health Chronic Disease Self Management Program is a free six week course. This program is for adults experiencing chronic health conditions such as hypertension, arthritis, heart disease, stroke, lung disease, chronic pain and diabetes. Each workshop teaches coping strategies such as action planning and feedback, behavior modeling, problem-solving techniques, and decision making related to managing chronic disease.
Who should attend?
Anyone who has a chronic disease or is a family or friend of someone with a chronic disease.
Subjects Covered in Workshop:
*Techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation
*Appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance
*Appropriate use of medications
*Communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals
*How to evaluate new treatments
Workshop participants will receive a copy of the companion book, Living a Healthy Life With Chronic Conditions, 4th Edition, and an audio relaxation tape, Time for Healing. Each session is two and one half hours long. Each session will be held at the same location, one day a week for six weeks. This class will be held at Weatherford Public Library in the Small Meeting Room, located at 1014 Charles Street, Weatherford, TX 76086. Free parking is available.
