Patsy Youngs, R.N., MBA, became president of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman in September 2006. She came to Texas Health Resources from Hunt Memorial Hospital District (HMHD), where she served as administrator of Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce and chief operating officer of HMHD.

Youngs began her career in health care more than 30 years ago as a registered nurse and has served in a number of clinical and operational leadership positions. She worked in management positions at Columbia Bay Area Medical Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, La., and Mercy Hospital in New Orleans.

Youngs earned a diploma in nursing from Touro Infirmary School of Nursing in New Orleans, a bachelor's degree in health sciences from Holy Cross College, also in New Orleans and a master's degree in business adminstration from Florida Institute of Technology's New Orleans campus.

Youngs has participated in a number of community organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. She is also an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.


Chief Nursing Officer

Denise Claussen

Denise Claussen, R.N.

Denise Claussen, R.N., B.S.N., M.S.N., was named chief nursing officer of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman in April 2011. She leads a team of 95 nurses in providing top-quality care to the greater Kaufman community. She also oversees the wound clinic, pain clinic and pharmacy.

Claussen has more than 30 years of experience. She began her career as a staff nurse at Community General Hospital in Sterling, Ill. Over the years, she has held nursing leadership roles in Illinois, Iowa, Florida, Louisiana and Texas. Prior to her current role, Claussen served as senior director of perioperative services at Children's Medical Center of Dallas. She was also previously administrative director of surgical services at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital.

Committed to nursing education, she teaches anatomy, physiology and physical assessment. Claussen is also a frequent public speaker on anatomy and physiology, as well as throughput and surgery.

She received a master's in nursing from the University of Dubuque and a bachelor's in nursing from the University of Tampa.


Chief Medical Officer

Mark Sij, D.O.

Mark Sij, D.O.

Mark William Sij, D.O., is the chief medical officer at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman.

In this role, Sij works closely with hospital and physician staff leadership to promote clinical excellence and safety in patient care. He also works with Texas Health leadership around the system to advance clinical initiatives.

Under his leadership, Texas Health Kaufman has received a quality care financial reward from the Healthcare Quality Incentive Demonstration project and has been named a QUEST Top Performing Hospital. Sij specializes in internal medicine and also serves as the medical director for Your Health Team, Home Health Care and Bridgeway Hospice.
