The National Institute of Mental Health estimates that close to 4 percent of adults suffer from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Difficulty starting projects. Anxiety in the workplace. Extreme disorganization. If this doesn't sound like ADHD to you, you might want to think again. While the classic symptoms of ADHD are fairly detectable in some, less obvious manifestations of the disorder often lead to missed diagnoses.
Think you or someone you know may have ADHD? Take our brief assessment:
1. Are you easily distracted from tasks that have more than one component or aspect to it?
2. Do you find yourself having difficulty maintaining focus for more than 15 minutes at a time?
3. Do you find it difficult to complete tasks or projects?
4. Do you have difficulty focusing on more than one thing at a time?
If you answered Yes to more than two questions, consider following up with your health care provider to review the assessment with them.
