Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine Begins Initiative on Growing, National Health Concern; Childhood Obesity

Childhood obesity is a rapidly growing health issue of epidemic proportion. Since 1979, the prevalence of childhood obesity in the U.S. has quadrupled to 19 percent for children 6 to 11 years, with 40 percent of Texas children considered obese.
