Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth is embarking on one of the most significant investments in its history: a $223 million expansion and renovation project designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of our community. With your support, we can ensure this vision becomes a reality, bringing exceptional, compassionate care to more families right here at home.
Building for the Future
A new five-story patient tower will add 64 beds and shell space for future growth, with two floors opening in 2028. This expansion will allow us to serve more residents and enhance capacity for complex care. Modernization of six original operating rooms will further enhance our ability to perform advanced procedures, including robotic surgeries.
“Southwest Fort Worth and the surrounding communities of Benbrook, Crowley, Aledo, and Granbury have grown by leaps and bounds since Texas Health Southwest first opened our doors in 1987, and Texas Health is committed to keeping pace with their growing healthcare needs,” said Ajith Pai, PharmD, FACHE, president of Texas Health Southwest. “With this new tower and renovations, we’ll have the capacity to serve even more residents and a more modernized surgical department to better accommodate robotic and other surgeries, providing patients higher complexity care.”
Population growth in Southwest Fort Worth continues to accelerate, with projections of nearly 90,000 new residents by 2045. Your generosity ensures Texas Health Southwest is prepared to serve every neighbor who needs us now and in the future.
A Leading Example: Cramer Tower
Thanks to a transformational legacy gift from Karen Cramer, the new patient tower at Texas Health Southwest will be named Cramer Tower. This gift reflects a full-circle moment: in the 1980s, Karen’s father, Jud Cramer, helped scout the site for what would become Texas Health Southwest. Karen’s generosity ensures that the hospital will continue to serve in the future.
Karen Cramer said, " I've been blessed to be able to give back to the community that has given me so much. My legacy won't be in the buildings – it will be in the devotion I feel for Texas Health and the entire Fort Worth community."
Karen has long been a dedicated volunteer and trustee on the Texas Health Resources Foundation Board. Her philanthropic legacy includes providing the gift for the Karen Cramer Chapel at Texas Health Fort Worth, and now she takes this landmark step to name the new Cramer Tower at Texas Health Southwest.
