Train here. This is why.

The Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford Internal Medicine Residency Program with rotations at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton is training physicians to practice medicine now and in the future. Accepting its first cohort in 2022, this program builds upon the commitment to care established by Texas Health Resources, the highest-ranked health system in the U.S. on Fortune’s 2021 100 Best Companies to Work For® list, and is a collaboration between the health system and the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at Texas Christian University.

This program offers a unique experience for residents. Here’s how:

Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at Texas Christian UniversityAcademic affiliation in community-based hospitals. An affiliation between Texas Health HEB and Texas Health Denton with the Burnett School of Medicine empowers residents with access to scholarly activities, a medical library, quality improvement projects, a wellness curriculum and other expertise a resident needs to achieve success. The programs’ base in two community hospitals allows for broad experience in enjoyable atmospheres where relationships are valued and quality of life is important.

Diversity of experience. The experience of practicing at two different hospital campuses, Texas Health HEB and Texas Health Denton, provides residents a wealth of experience with various patient populations who are diverse in age, acuity, racial and ethnic background, socioeconomic status, ability and even whether they live in rural or urban settings.

Commitment to wellness. Our residents’ health and well-being is our priority. Residents receive PTO each year and regularly scheduled administrative days to attend to healthcare needs, catch up on administrative paperwork and advance scholarly activity. Residents also have access to the Texas Health Fitness Center HEB at reduced cost to them.

Experienced leadership team and faculty. With many years of academic medical education experience, program leaders and faculty are dedicated to offering residents the rotations, clinical experiences and opportunities to help them begin practice or match into a competitive fellowship. Residents rotate on the campuses of both Texas Health HEB and Texas Health Denton for equal academic experience.

Focus on quality improvement and high-value care. Beginning in the first year, residents are assigned quality improvement projects. Residents work with mentors on these projects, from the research question to the data analysis, and project updates are part of the didactics activities. The program rewards the best quality improvement projects with selection for publication at the American College of Physicians’ Texas, regional and national competition.

Your education is our priority. With dedicated academic half-days, weekly board review, and faculty who are passionate about teaching and ample elective time to craft the path for the future you choose, residents can begin successful careers at Texas Health HEB and Texas Health Denton.
